Camping rental & trip planning

A rental-and-trip-planning web business with a real booking engine and self-hosted media, built to run without per-seat SaaS fees.

Real project · client withheld · outcomes discussed under NDA

  2. 02 Self-hosted media

A camping-equipment rental and trip-planning business needed a real operating platform — a browsable catalogue, actual availability and bookings, and a lot of photos and media — not a page of contact-us forms.

The problem

Off-the-shelf booking tools meant recurring per-item fees, someone else's design, and media costs that scale badly with a photo-heavy catalogue.

What we did

  1. 01
A booking engine around the real inventory

A catalogue and availability model built around the actual rental stock and how it books, rather than bent to fit a generic tool.

  2. 02
    Self-hosted media

Object storage the business owns, so a photo-heavy catalogue does not turn into a growing per-GB bill.

  3. 03
    Trip planning on top

A planning layer built over the rental core, so equipment and the trip it is for live in one place.

Relevance

Where this pattern applies.

  • Generic booking tools do not match your inventory, availability rules, or customer journey.
  • You need a maintainable customer product without stacking more per-seat or per-item software.
How we would start

A comparable engagement starts by pinning down the booking rules and the inventory model — the part generic tools get wrong — then builds the catalogue, media, and planning layers on a stack you own.
